Volunteer Requirements &
Family Points System


The Kitimat Marlins are a member-run not-for-profit organization that relies on the participation of the membership for its "on-deck" and "off-deck" activities. All member families of KMSC are required to raise funds for the club and ensure its future.

KMSC uses a point based system to track family participation activities. Each family must accumulate the requisite number of points each year by participating in fundraising events. These activities are assigned different point values based on several factores including time, effort, skill level and knowledge.

Each swimmer has an amount of points allocated to the swim group they are in:

Points Participation System

  • If there are multiple swimmers in your family the child in the top group will be allocated full points and any other siblings will be allocated 1/2 points for the group they are in
  • Anyone may volunteer on behalf of a family member. This can include older siblings, grandparents or friends or another KMSC member
  • Families are not permitted to carry over points from one season to the following season
  • Points cannot be transferred from one family to another event
  • For each point not complete a charge of $30 will be added to your account.
  • There shall be no exception to this policy unless activities for earning points have not been provided
  • Roles that indicate either half or full points are the points for one athlete.

KMSC Member Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with the KMSC Family Point Policy and its details.
  • Understand the total points you are required to collect for the swim season
  • Points are tracked via the website / job sign-up system. Advise the Ways & Means board member of any discrepancies.
  • Members are required to collect half of their points by December 31 and the other half by June 30 of each swim season
